This Chardonnay from the Deux Chevaux Vineyard is from some of our oldest blocks, and carefully monitored to grow this elegant Chardonnay with complex flavor components. Oak lactones of vanilla and coconut are present here on the nose. Panna cotta/crème brûlée aroma and texture, specifically the caramelized sugar layer on top of the crème brûlée—that sweet, toasted hazelnut quality really brings everything together. On the palate, notes of Madagascar vanilla, brioche, and French-cultured butter that is so much better than anything you can get in this country.
The Deux Chevaux Vineyard is a 60-acre vineyard situated in the Yountville Appellation, northeast of the town of Yountville. The vineyard is planted with Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Deux Chevaux is French for “two horses,” the namesake of Tamber Bey.
