In the glass, the appearance is a deep, dark purple with great clarity. Aromas of mossy forest floor mingle with strawberry jam, red fruit leather, plum and a hint of bay leaf. The flavor profile delivers savory plum, cranberry and cherry reduction. The mouthfeel is light and mouthwatering. The tannin structure from the oak influence and whole-cluster fermentation is holding nicely, and will improve with age. A nice, long and persistent finish of tart cherry.

Vineyard Notes
Walala comes from the Kashaya Pomo Native American Indian saying, "where the water flows down," a reference to the local Gualala River. Perched atop a ridge along the Sonoma Coast, just a few miles from the Pacific Ocean, the 17-acre Walala Vineyard lies in the middle of 19,000 acres of pristine forestland. Goldridge fine, sandy loam and gravelly Hugo loam soils comprise this well-drained vineyard site.
