The 2018 Sun Chase Vineyard Pinot Noir is a best-of-barrel selection, consisting of three clones that were fermented separately. Each barrel was selected to make this distinct, site-specific wine. The wine presents a medium weight and subtle tannin structure. Flavors of tart red cherry, strawberry seed and roses are a pleasant introduction to the lingering finish.

This robust wine greets you with a medium crimson/garnet hue in the glass. Aromatics of dark plum, leather, cocoa, and blueberry intermingle with notes of sweet oak, hickory and shiitake mushroom. The flavor profile is complex, with layers of Bing cherry, raspberry, homemade cranberry sauce, wet stone and vanilla. This is a light-bodied wine with a finish that, although short, delivers medium acid and tannins. Although approachable now, as we have seen with previous vintages, this wine will improve with age.
Sun Chase is a 40-acre vineyard located in newly designated Petaluma Gap Appellation of the Sonoma Coast. The elevation varies from 900 to 1,200 feet on the western slope of Sonoma Mountain. This vineyard is above the fog line, and, as a result, the fruit sees sun all day, every day.
