2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville Estate 375ml
Our original Signature wine started in 2002, this Cabernet is all about the Oakville AVA. The fruit is from the Estate grown Oakville vineyard with dense cane pruned vines to bring the full impact of the Oakville soil into the body of this wine.
Wine Spectator – 92 Points
Well-centered on a core of loamy earth, dark berry, cedar, crushed rock and graphite. Sails along smoothly, ending a bit clipped, but time should resolve that. Best from 2020 through 2034. - JL
Winemaker Notes, Frederic Delivert
Aromas of crème de cassis and crème de mure arrive first, followed by baked black stone fruits, licorice and a light smokiness. The mouthfeel is seamless, and a nice acidity keeps the freshness going through. This is a fruit-forward wine, with ample plum and cherry, and a slight mineral tone of crushed brick. The tannins are nice, soft and well-integrated. The finish delivers sage, cigar box and vanilla notes.
Oakville Estate Vineyard
The Tamber Bey Oakville Estate is located at the southern end of Napa Valley’s famous Oakville appellation, just north of Yountville. It has gravel/loam soils that are relatively shallow and well suited to Cabernet. The site enjoys early morning fog and late afternoon breezes influenced by the San Francisco Bay to the south. To encourage competition for sun, water and nutrients, Tamber Bey planted more than 9,500 vines in a tight planting formation on 3 acres.
