2011 Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville Estate

The first impression of this classic Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon is made by the rich garnet color with bright purple rim. The nose delivers black, fleshy stone fruits followed by a hint of black licorice and complex mixed layers of crushed-stone minerality, ash, cigar wrapper, sage and turmeric. The mouth feel is generous up front and very creamy, with black cherry, plum and pomegranate. Flavors evolve into a mineral profile of wet concrete and peat. The finish is a mix of bay leaves, lavender, rhubarb and oaky notes. Overall, this vintage is more restrained, more European in style. 475 cases produced.

Oakville Estate Vineyard
The Tamber Bey Oakville Estate is located at the southern end of Napa Valley’s famous Oakville appellation, just north of Yountville. It has gravel/loam soils that are relatively shallow and well suited to Cabernet. The site enjoys early morning fog and late afternoon breezes influenced by the San Francisco Bay to the south. To encourage competition for sun, water and nutrients, Tamber Bey planted more than 9,500 vines in a tight planting formation on 3 acres.
