The 2011 Bordeaux blend “Rabicano” represents the fifth vintage of this Yountville Appellation wine from the Deux Chevaux Vineyard. The nose is greeted with aromas of red currant, red cherry, a hint of pomegranate, clay and floral in the form of delicate lavender notes. The aroma evolves into light cedar, gentian violet and blackberry. The mouth feel is medium bodied, velvety, seamless and fresh, thanks to good acidity lifting up the wine. Flavors of pomegranate are mixed with an herbal hint. The finish mixes delicate crushed raspberry notes with light cigar box, smokiness and ash. This is a wonderful “drink now” wine that will also improve with age.
