Tamber Bey presents its latest release: the 2005 Two Rivers Vineyard, Yountville Collection and our 2004 Oakville ‘Estate’ Cabernet Sauvignon.

We are extremely pleased with our 2004 and '05 vintage. All of our wines are handcrafted, unique and stand out from the crowd. We only wish we had more to share with you.

Green-gold in hue, the high-toned fruit flavors are reminiscent of Sauvignon Blanc, but the body and palate weight is unmistakably Chardonnay. The palate itself moves from white chocolate to lime zest, flint and spiced apple. Tamber Bey stopped stirring this Chardonnay in 2005 in an effort to preserve the fresh citrus qualities inherit in the grapes and site. Aged for 17 months in 30 percent new French Burgundy barrels, with an additional month in the barrel and minimal cellar interference, this may have produced Tamber Bey's most complete Two Rivers Vineyard Chardonnay to date.

Aged for 20 months in 50 percent new Darnajou and Taransaud Bordeaux barrels, Tamber Bey's 2005 Two Rivers Vineyard Merlot is deeply saturated and ruby red in color. It possesses a concentrated nose of red currant, violet, cedar and black truffle. The mid palate is very site-specific to Yountville with black fruit and a Cuban cigar box quality. The finish is layered with tones of black licorice, minerals and a touch of anise. This Merlot is perfect now, yet will only get better with age.

After 20 months in 25 percent new French Bordeaux Barrels, the 2005 Tamber Bey Two Rivers Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon emerged to reveal a nose dominated by cedar, blackberry and mint. The palate follows this thread by offering cloves, mint, red raspberry and cherry compote. The oak contributes a sweet cream and vanilla element that balances the round tannin component of the wine. Sweet, black fruits round out this exemplary wine.

Tamber Bey 'Estate' Vineyard

This exquisite Oakville Cabernet is dark ruby in color with a concentrated nose of plums, violets, cedar shavings and earth. Complex and compelling with raspberry jam, cocoa and spice followed by a layered mid palate of dark cherries, black currants and licorice. The long full-bodied finish offers red fruits, vanilla and integrated smooth tannins. Harmoniously balanced, this wine drinks well now but those with patience will be greatly rewarded. 500 cases — Alc. 14.9%
