December 13th, 2011. (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Destination Cellars, the first and only luxury destination wine club, today announced the recipients of its third annual Winery and Alliance Partner of the Year awards.
"Recognizing our winery and alliance partners is something I've come to look forward to every year," said David Keuhner, founder and CEO, Destination Cellars. "Having quality and trusted partnerships has shaped who we are today and it is a joy to be able to acknowledge them with these awards."
New Winery Partner of the Year - Tamber Bey. Tamber Bey is renowned for its 100% estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Chardonnay. With estate vineyards in the Oakville and Yountville appellations, these Napa Valley cool-climate grapes are designated for the Tamber Bey signature wines.
"We're proud to be accepting this award for new winery partner of the year," said owner Barry Waitte. "With so many amazing new winemakers emerging every year, we're honored to be selected. Working with Destination Cellars has been a joy to work with and we're looking forward to many more years of partnership."
Here Comes the Petit Verdot
October 14th, 2011. The crew was out early this morning picking the 1 acre block of Tamber Bey Petit Verdot. There were two passes through the vineyard to pick the fruit as winemaker Mike Smith wanted to ferment and barrel the 'sunny side' and 'morning side' fruit in seperate processes. This Petit Verdot will go into the Tamber Bey Bordeuax blends of Rabicano and Tovero. Now that they are off the vine, we'll see these wines released in the fall of 2013. We can't wait!
Merlot is Off the Vine
October 2nd, 2011. This Sunday was the last pick of the Deux Chevaux Vineyard Merlot. A very robust year for this varietal, the Merlot weighted in at over 15 tons, and pressed out beautiful and rich. This Merlot will be the base for the 2011 100% Merlot and the 2011 Rabicano, and maybe wil find it's way into other wines. Just in time of this pick as the rain started one day later!
Three Steeds Makes Debut at Tamber Bey
October 1, 2011. Tamber Bey Vineyards introduces not only a new wine - but a new label! This true second label from Tamber Bey is estate grown fruit and a combination of juice from multiple varietals and both estate vineyards. This 2009 Three Steeds Cabernet Sauvignon ($34) is a unique blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. Only 380 cases made! This wine is currently only available at the Tasting Room in downtown St. Helena, so come on up for a taste or give us a call. We'll ship you some!
The label name and picture is a representation of the painting commissioned by Vintner Barry Waitte of his first three horses; Bayamo, Tamborina and Kann Sam Count – which is hanging in the tasting room of the Tamber Bey tasting room in downtown St. Helena.
Tamber Bey Releases New Vintages and Four New Wines!
October 1, 2011. October is always a big month for wineries in Napa Valley, but at Tamber Bey it was our BIGGEST! The winery not only brought out new vintages of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot - and the wildly popular Rabicano, they also release four new wines! Being added to the line up was a 100% Cabernet Franc, two new Bordeaux Blends called Sabino and Tovero, but the winery also introduced a new 'second label' called Three Steeds (see above). The Tamber Bey lineup now is sporting nine wines, all estate grown, and all given the care to make distinct and with rich character.
The 2011 Harvest is on!
September 20, 2011. The vineyard crew worked in the early morning to secure the Dijon Clone Chardonnay from the Deux Chevaux Vineyard in the Yountville Appellation to make what will be the 2011 Chardonnay. "We are very pleased with the pick over these three days" says winemaker Mike Smith. "From the brix to the acidity level, all the numbers and tastes are at an excellent level." So Chardonnay fans - it's not long, about 18 months from now, that you'll see this fruit in the bottle for you to enjoy!
Tamber Bey on the Trail for a Vintner Dinner in Jackson Hole
September 15th, 2011. Vintner Barry Waitte and GM Jennifer Nice were the winery hosts at the International Chapter of the YPO in Jackson Hole, Wyoming on September 15. The YPO meeting was by Lawrence and Cindy Fields for the members, and the daily events included a private rodeo at the famed Jackson Land and Cattle Company - which was followed by a wine dinner featuring Tamber Bey wines pared with Wyoming favoriates including elk. This was a great event.
